As we celebrated Easter this year we really tried to remember the true meaning of the holiday. Christ's sacrifice is what gives us hope and faith for the future. Through him we are able to be forgiven of our sins and return to our Heavenly Father. He suffered for each and everyone of us and I am so grateful to have the knowledge that through my choices and his grace I can return to my Heavenly Father and have my family with me for eternity.
We started our Easter activities on Saturday morning with the annual community Easter egg hunt. The day was beautiful and the kids had a blast.
Ava and Benson hunted (collected is a little more accurate) eggs with the pre-k and kindergarten age kids. It is always so much fun to watch all the little kids run after the eggs. The tiny ones are content to have one for each hand, while the older ones are starting to get the idea that more is better. Plus you always have the over competitive parents who cheer them on, encouraging their little ones to "keep going, get that one, hurry pick up more". Lex was very helpful with Benson this year, she had a lot of fun helping him put his eggs in his bag.
After the hunt we get to sit and empty the eggs of their loot and then return the eggs to the designated bins. This is one of my favorite parts of the egg hunt, we have plenty of plastic eggs at home and I am more than happy to donate these ones for next years hunt.
Natalie was with the 1st and 2nd grade bunch this year. She collected a lot of eggs and was the only one to get a prize egg. As you can see she chose a very big pink bunny as her prize. She was soooooo excited.
Lexie ended up with the biggest hall. There weren't as many 5th and 6th graders and they had the entire football field scattered with eggs to collect from. She had a great time.
This picture was painful to get. Lexie has always had a hard time coming up with a natural looking smile and Benson was being a buster. But what a handsome bunch of munchkins.
