Over fathers day weekend we got together with some of our good friends and stayed at a house over on the coast just north of Rock-away. It was so good to get to spend time with everyone and to get to see friends that we haven't seen in a while. The house was perfect and so was the weather, which was a really rare occurrence in Western Oregon this spring.
We played at the beach, went up to Fort Clatsop and Fort Stevens, attended Rock-Away's pirate days festival, (where we let the kids have their first exposure to "carni life") and the ladies even got to do a little bit of shopping at the outlet mall. The trip was full of good food and wonderful friends. It was sad on Sunday to have to pack up and say good bye. Thanks for the fun everyone, we are looking forward to the next one.
Just FYI I am missing some pics because my SD card died and I was unable to recover everything so if you are missing I am sorry. :)
At Fort Clatsop we watched the Corps of Discovery video and walked around the grounds. Then we had a picnic lunch where one on us, was pooped on by the birds who were begging for scraps.
The Kids had a great time at Fort Stevens and according to all the dad's, it was sooo much better than Fort Clatsop. The kids loved all the military paraphernalia and the dad's got a kick out of how much the set up reminded them of Halo. Ava and Grayson rekindled their friendship. It was cute to see how excited they were to see each other again.
I would explain this picture but for those of you who know my husband, you also know that it needs no explanation.
After Bret and Jut got up on the big gun, the kids all wanted in on the action.
At the pirate days festival we let the kids go on a few of the rides. They had a great time but they learned that not only are the rides kind of a ripoff, but the games really are. The festival was really more of a carnival/market then a fair but fun was had by all and the people watching was really interesting.
The kids really loved the hot tub and enjoyed soaking in it as often as the adults would allow. They all got along so well and as you can tell from this last picture they wore each other out.
We had a wonderful time and we are so grateful that we have been blessed with such great friends. Thanks again everyone.
